How to Choose the Right Light Source?

Socket type – A basic but key parameter. E27 (large screw), E14 (small screw), GU10 (twist-lock), G9 (compact pin) etc. The socket determines compatibility with your fixture.

Light temperature – 2700 K = warm white (cozy), 3000–4000 K = neutral white (work), 6000 K = cool white (technical). RGB = selectable colors for ambiance and fun.

Luminous flux (lumens) – The higher the lumens, the brighter the light. 400–800 lm is sufficient for living rooms; for kitchens or workspaces, aim for 800–1500 lm depending on size.

Power & efficiency – LEDs consume minimal energy while delivering strong light. Look at watts, but also efficiency in lm/W (e.g., 100 lm/W is excellent).

Dimming – Need adjustable brightness? Choose bulbs labeled "dimmable". Smart variants can be dimmed easily via mobile app or scenes.

Design & style – For open fixtures, consider the bulb’s appearance. Decorative styles with visible filaments (Retro, Globe) add character.

Smart features – Smart LEDs offer easy control, timers, temperature and color adjustment, and smart home integration (Tuya, Zigbee, Wi-Fi).

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What’s the difference between GU10 and E27 sockets?
GU10 is a twist-lock socket with pins, mainly used in spot and ceiling lights. E27 is a screw socket for standard lamps. Each fixture requires a matching socket – they are not interchangeable.

Can I dim any LED bulb?
No, only LEDs marked “dimmable” are compatible with dimmers. For smart bulbs, dimming is available via app. Using a non-dimmable LED with a dimmer can cause flickering or damage.

How much energy do I save with LEDs compared to halogens?
LEDs use up to 80% less energy than halogens, last up to 25× longer, and produce less heat. The investment pays off in just a few months.

How do I choose the right light temperature?
2700K = warm light for bedrooms and living rooms. 3000–4000K = neutral light for work and kitchens. RGB = creative color effects for mood or fun.

What if the fixture is enclosed and not well ventilated?
Choose LED bulbs with low wattage and quality bodies (glass or ceramic) that can withstand higher temperatures. Avoid cheap plastic LEDs in enclosed fixtures.

Choose Rendl light sources and illuminate your space effectively, stylishly, and smartly – just the way you like it.
